Walker County District Attorney’s Office Secures Conviction in Methamphetamine Trafficking Case
On 4/20/23 the Jasper Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant for the South Side Funeral Home located at 175 Hwy 269, Jasper, Alabama.
Two individuals, Kinte D. Gosha and Arthur D. McCollum were arrested on charges of Trafficking Methamphetamines based on finding approximately 228 grams of methamphetamines inside the funeral home.
Another individual present, Odell Swain, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances.
On January 12, 2026, the case on Kinte Gosha went to trial. The State represented by Assistant District Attorney, Chris Sherer and Kristin Huddleston tried this case, and after 3 days of presenting testimony and evidence a jury returned a verdict of guilty as charged against Kinte D. Gosha for Trafficking Methamphetamines.
The Defendant was placed in custody and put in the Walker County jail until a sentencing hearing could be held.
On March 24, 2026, the sentencing hearing for Kinte D. Gosha took place. After hearing from several witnesses for the State and the Defendant and then argument by counsel for both the State and the Defendant, the Honorable Judge Williams sentenced Kinte D. Gosha to serve 35 years in prison.
We would like to thank the Jasper Police Department for the hard work in this case, specifically Sargent Jacob O’Rear and Sargent Cody Harbin. Both officers put in a lot of hours and hard work to make this case and to help the State prepare this case for trial.
